EXL: Prokop entered the season excellently. „It’s a long season“, he says humbly

After first two incomplete rounds of Extraliga, we can see three players under 20 years in top 5 of batting statistics. One of them is Milan Prokop who currently leads the table.

Twenty year old Draci batter played 4 games so far and earned 8 hits. Beside that he was also walked 4 times. This means he reached the base in almost 3/4 of his AB against Tempo and Technika. What is the secret of his great start? „There’s no secret,“ smiles the Czech national player. „I just train hard, I’m aggressive with bat and I believe game experience and being able with the national team helped. Either way, it’s a long season so we will se how it goes. We don’t even have two full series behind us with Draci, so everything can change quickly.“

Young player moved from 3rd base to shortstop this year. There he played all 4 games and helped with 18 Draci outs. He only earned error two errors so far, in difficult environment. But moving to a new position wasn’t an issue for Prokop. „It wasn’t that difficult, since I played youth baseball primarily as a shortstop. Then I sometimes trained it with A-team when I was on loan in Třebíč. So even when I played third base in Extraliga in the previous seasons, I’m quiet used to [shortstop] and I’m glad I get a chance to play it. To tell the truth, I enjoy shortstop the most out of all infield positions,“ adds Milan Prokop.
