Friendly series between Czech Republic and Netherlands continued on Saturday as a part of Rotterdam Baseball Week. Pavel Chadim’s team had a chance to tie the series.

The second game started in a similar matter as the one on Friday, with a dominant pitching performance. Tomáš Ondra on Czech mound didn’t allow any runs in four innings he pitched. On the other hand, Czech batters were also able to get any runs.

Everything changed in the fifth inning, when Jan Tomek got on the mound. With a help of the defense, he handled a tough situation where Dutch had a runner on the third base, for Czechs to take the lead in the following half inning. First, Vojtěch Menšík reached the home base after a bunt from Marek Krejčiřík. Willi Escala then score the second run. Marek Chlup then wrapped up the Czech hit series with a double and he increased Czech lead to 4-0.

Czech productivity continued in the sixth inning. They loaded the bases with one out and Arnošt Dubový then batted in two runs.

Jan Novák and David Mergans were tasked with holding the lead. They both pitched scoreless innings and Czech won 6-0.

The third game and the winner of the series will be decided on Sunday at 11:00.
