Czech U18 team played their first game at European Championship on Monday. They started the tournament against the Great Britain.
The game was important for both teams as a potentially deciding game for who would advance to the semifinals. That’s why Brits started an American with British passport Colin Label. He threw the full 7 innings where Czechs only scored 2 runs. Both came in the 4th inning. First, after a solo homerun from Filip Kubíček, for Jaroslav Moravec to reach the home base after a wild pitch. At this point Czechs were leading 2-1.
Czech starter David Křeček threw 4 innings, where he allowed 2 innings and when Vojtěch Ventruba stepped on the mound for him the score was tied. Brits scored a run against him after a wild pitch with two outs. Another run came in the sixth inning against Jan Kozel.
Czechs lost 2-4 and they can’t now lose more games. Filip Prochádzka’s team will continue on Tuesday against Belgium.
