Hroši Brno forced 5th game in Czech Series

Baseball fans had to wait for nine long games to see the 4th game of this year’s Czech Series. Wednesday afternoon, however, saw the series continue at Hroši where they had to win or their season would be over.

However, Draci started Filip Čapka, who didn’t allow much the the hosts. Hroši first scored in the sixth inning, when Marek Krejčiřík tied the game.

Visitors scored against John Hussey in the fourth inning after a run from Milan Prokop who got on bases with a triple.

The score settled at 1-1 after six inning and both teams substituted their starters for the seventh inning. Hosts sent in Tomáš Ondra, while visitors chose Tomáš Hrbek. The more experienced Ondra came on top in the duel, since Hrbek was substituted before the inning was over. His pitches worked for the hosts as the first three batters reached the base. After a few more hits Hroši scored runs and Vojtěch Ventruba came in instead of Hrbek. But even he was not able to stop his opponents, as Daniel Ondroušek cleared the bases and increase Hroši lead to 7-1.

Solo homerun from Martin Kalábek gave Draci some hope, but Ondra didn’t allow Draci more and Hroši could celebrate the first win of the series.

Czech Series will thus be extended by at least one game. The game number 5 will be played on Thursday in YD Arena. with expected starters being Jhenderson Hurtado and Toru Murata.
