Hynek Čapka and Kryštof Dupal won coach of the year awards
As a part of the Mountain Baseball Clinic, Czech Baseball Association announced the first awards for the previous season. We got to know the name of the three winners in the coaching category, namely Hynek Čapka, Kryštof Dupal and Tomáš Vavruša.
Hynek Čapka won the Coach of the Year award for the second time in his career. Fifty four year old manager of Draci Brno brought his team to the third Extraliga title in a row and also won the first Champion Cup title in the Czech history. Based on the video from the social networks the award was handed over by the current men’s senior national team coach Pavel Chadim. Hynek Čapka also became only the fourth coach in the history to be awarded more than once.
The Rookie Coach of the Year awards goes to Kryštof Dupal from SaBaT Praha, who acted as both a coach and occasionally as a pitcher. SaBaT had a great seasons, winning 25 games in a row in the First League, topped by the return to Extraliga. And it was Kryštof Dupal who was behind it all. Even so, Prague team decided he will be substituted by Ben Currie who will manage the team in the upcoming season.
Starting with year 2015, ČBA also awards the Lifetime Achievement Award. This year it was awarded to sixty three year old Tomáš Vavruša. Former national team player and youth team national team coach also brought his sons Daniel and Jiří to baseball, both of which played plenty of games in Czech Extraliga. Along with Kryštof Dupal they are the only two memebrs of SaBaT to ever win one of the three coaching awards.
