Great start against Colombia gave Czechs the first win
Czech U18 national team played another game at DIBAT 2025 on Tuesday evening. This time they were to face Colombia, who was yet to win a game, so it was only a question of time to see which of the teams would get their first win.
Czechs started the game against Colombia excellently. They earned 4 hits and 3 walks in the first inning, which gave them 5-0 lead.

Great offense continued in the bottom half of the second inning, when the national team added 3 runs which helped them build a significant lead.
Starter Jan Novák only allowed 1 run in the two innings. The third inning started with a triple against him. Novák then struck out the batter, but was then substituted. Filip Hedl came in for him and he was quickly welcome by a hit. Colombia managed to lower their deficit to 8-3 in the end.
Czech team started the bottom half of the fourth inning with three successful hits in a row. The third one came from Vít Staněk and it also brought the 9th run for the Czechs. Colombian pitcher than found his stride and didn’t allow any more runs.
Due to the lime limits, it was clear the 5th inning would be the last one of the game. Colombia pressed Hedl and they scored to 9-5 with one out. With bases loaded Matyáš Novotný came on the mound. He was able to close the inning and Czechs could celebrate the first win of the tournament.
The team will play their next game on Wednesday against Mexico. The game is planned to start at 16:30 CET.
