U18 Czech national team will play DIBAT tournament in Porto Rico
Czech U18 national team returns to Porto Rico after a year, where they will play DRD International Baseball Academies Tournament (DIBAT). The tournament expanded to 12 teams in the previous season, with addition of a game between All Stars team and Porto Rico’s Ministry of Education team.
Due to the expansion, the tournament split to two six team groups. The Czech Republic will play in Group B against Mexico, Porto Rico, Aruba, Germany, and the tournament newcomers Columbia. Czechs will play 5 games in the group and at least two more in the advanced stages. The hosts from Porto Rico will be huge favorites, as their U18 team recently won Martin Luther King tournament in Florida.
„We have players born in 2008, who will play at the European Championship in 2026, but there are also players born in 2007. Some of them were with us previous year at Regensburg at the European Championship. At the same, it is an option to show for the boys who were cut in the late rounds of the national team tryouts, what they can do at the world stage. The tournament has exposure, and it gives them a chance to showcase in front of the American scouts,“ said manager Filip Prochádzka for ČBA Instagram.

This is already the fourth edition of the international tournament. The first edition was dominated by the Dominican Republic, while the hosts from Porto Rico took the remaining two trophies.
