A great news arrived over the Easter weekend for the Czech baseball fans. Czech player Matouš Bubeník announced on his social pages he will join UNC Wilmington, which plays D1 college baseball.
Bubeník will hence play for the same school where another Czech, Martin Zelenka, played for the past two season. Both of them play a catcher position where Bubeník can replace a more experienced Zelenka.

Nineteen year old Bubeník has plenty of experience from Extraliga, where he played 4 seasons for Eagles Praha. He has BA .271, and OPS .776 in 50 games. He also added 5 homeruns, all of them in the previous season.
Bubeník is a core player of the youth national teams. In the previous years he played, for example, at U23 and U18 European Championship. It is especially at U18 EC where his numbers are amazing, as he finished with BA .409 and OPS almost 1.276 in 9 games.
