Slovak League started with its Opening Week

Slovak Baseball League started with two games over the weekend. There we got to see Košice against two Bratislava teams. Unfortunately, Akademik returns home with two losses.

The first game of the season was played between Akademik and Fooze Bratislava. Bratislava pitcher George Harris was the star of the game when he had 16 strikeouts in 6 innings. He even had 4 strikeouts in the 4th inning, as one of Košice batters reached the first base when Bratislava catcher couldn’t block the wild pitch.

Fooze won 20-5 in the end. Harris was also perfect in the offense, where he had 2 hits and 3 walks. Andrej Korbély and Marek Šindelár also finished with 3 RBI each.

Akademik then played against Apollo Bratislava B on Sunday, but the game only lasted 5 innings. Slavomír Masác on Bratislava mound only allowed one hit and one run. He added 9 strikeouts. Akademik was undone by the defense where they had 9 errors.

Lukáš Brhlovič shone for Bratislava with 4 hits and 4 runs. Matúš Gieci added 4 more runs for Bratislava, thanks to which Bratislava won 20-1.

SBL will offer 4 games next week where we get to see new teams as well. Due to the games in Croatian league we won’t see the reigning champions from Apollo Bratislava.
