WC U23: Czechia will be last after loss with Netherlands
If wanted czech players keep alive their chances for better than 12th position on tournament they need to win game against Netherlands.
But start of the game had better dutch team. In first inning open score with two run homer Junior Martina. Several moments later batted in one more run Dave Janssen. After not ideal start found czech starter Filip Čapka his confidence and next innings he was able to hold dutch batters.
Czech batters in first three innings couldn’t find the way how to beat dutch starter. Fortunatelly in fourth launched Marek Chlup solo homerun and Czechia had first run of the game. After this moment czech bats woke up and in fifth inning czech team got dutchies under pressure whith bases loaded. All bases was cleared by Marek Chlup’s triple and same player added fifth run after ground out by Filip Smola.
Unfortunatelly for czechs Netherlands tied the game in bottom of sixth inning and game went into the tiebreak. Czechia in top of eighth inning scored two runs after error by dutch defense. But it wasn’t enough for them to retain lead. Netherlands needed only one batter for walk-off win. After bunt czech defense made three errors in one play and Netherlands scored three runs.
For czech team it was sixth loss in row and they will finish in last place on tournament. On Friday Czechia will play last game on tournament against South Korea.
