Draci Brno supported war veterans with 1M CZK donation
When Leoš Mareš asked listeners of Evropa 2 on Wednesday morning to donate money for vlcimak.cz, and subsequently auction his guitar, signed by Richarda Krajčo and Jaromír Jágr, he probably didn’t expect who the buyer would be. The interested party contacted him in the name of Draci Brno and bought the guitar for 1 million CZK (roughly 37,800 euro).
Project vlcimak.cz, covered by Regi Base I. foundation, supports war veterns, soldiers, policemen, firemen, and their families from 2011. Every year, on 11th of November, the internation day of war veterans, volunteers hit the streets and sell poppy badges in support of the foundation. Unfortunately, this year, due to Covid-19 pandemic, this was not possible. Leoš Mareš decided to support the foundation with 111 111 CZK donation and asked the listeners of the radio to fundraise 11 milion CZK.
To reach the goal easier, he decieded to sell his guitar, which was played in the radio by Richard Krajčo. The guitar was then signed by Mareš, Krajčo and Jaromír Jágr. The guitar was bough merely an hour after it was put on auction. The interested party bought the guitar in the name of Draci Brno baseball club.
This gift was not given directly from the club’s funds, but rather by a former player of Draci Brno and Czech national player, who is also one of the club’s sponsors. However, the player asked not to be named. He himself wanted the gift to be presented as a gift of Draci Brno.
