College Baseball: Marek Chlup blasted three behind the fence
A number of games were played in College baseball on Friday with a several Czech players in action.
However, before we get to Friday matches, let’s backtrack to Tuesday, where we missed Ondřej Furko‚s game, due to the missing data. Arizona West played against Eastern Arizona College, and Furko enterted the game, this time not as a starter but rather a reliever. He played three innings allowing 1R, although this was due to the defensive play. Arizona West won 14-4 and since Furko entered the game at 7-3 he got his first save.
It was Marek Chlup who shone the brightest on Friday when North Greenville played a doubleheader against Chowan. In the first game he was only „warming up“ when he had a hit. In the second game Chlup became an undisputed MVP after he got 3 HR and 6 RBI.
Three games against Miami awaited NC State with Vojtěch Menšík in the lineup. Menšík got the first hit of his team and contributed to 11-5 win.
For the first time, we could see Marcus Weinzimer, who has Czech and American citizenship, play for Puget Sound. He entered the game against Pacific Lutheran as a pinch hitter in ninth inning, but was unable to get a hit.
The last of the Czech players to play on Friday was Milan Prokop whose Combine Academy played against ECB Curtis. Prokop was unable to get a successful hit, but despite this his team won 4-2.
