Martin Červenka signed New York Mets

Despite Spring Training long underway, Czech catcher Martin Červenka, was still without a team. This changed when Červenka signed a new contract.

Catcher will join New York Mets organization, where he agreed to minor league contract. He should play in the minor league camp, which will start in April, where he will compete for catcher position in either AAA in Syracuse, or AA in Binghamton.

Mets 40-men roster currently has three catchers. Duo James McCann and Tomás Nido should be starting in MLB from the April, while Patrick Mazeika returns to the minors. There he will not only compete with Červenka, but also five more catchers – Francisco Alvarez, Caleb Joseph, Bruce Maxdwell, Nick Meyer a David Rodríguez. It is interesting to note that Joseph and Červenka both played recently in Orioles organization.
