College Baseball: NC State keeps the winning streak. Zelenka added another homerun
We already wrote about the North Greenville and Marek Chlup’s achievement. But there were more games played in college baseball over the weekend and Czech players were not missing.
NC State played three games against Wake Forest and they won twice. Vojtěch Menšík played the best in the last of them, on Sunday, when he had two hits in 15-8 win. His BA is currently .256.
Ondřej Furko pitched on Saturday for Arizona Western College. This time he entered the game in the sixth inning as a reliever, while his team was loosing 1-5. Czech pitcher did his job, as he didn’t allow any runs. Additionally, his teammates pushed in the second half of the game and Arizona took a narrow 7-6 win against Scottsdale Community College.
Filip Smola played as a substitute after a week, in the second game of a double header against Concord University. Czech was sent to second base in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Charleston led 9-6. But their opponent took advantage of an inaccurate pitch and an error on short stop and in the end won 10-9. Smola didn’t get to bat.
On the other hand Martin Zelenka played more than enough when Pitt Community College played three games against Southeastern Community College-Whiteville. Zelenka took part in all of them. In the second of them he only caught last two outs and he helped to keep the narrow 5-4 win. The Sunday game was a success for Zelenka as he earned 4 hits and also added his 4th HR. Pitt won the game 15-14.
Combine Academy played on Monday against Pro 5. Combine had a bad start of the game, after their starting pitcher couldn’t get an out. Coaches subbed him for Michal Kovala after eight batters. He threw 8 outs, allowing 3 runs and was substituted in the third inning.
