EXL: Arrows Ostrava set new historical record

Extraliga game between Arrows and Blansko was unusually played on Tuesday. After two weeks off, Blansko needed to catch up on the missed games. Despite the time, Arrows showed their strength at bat and won 11-0.

The game itself didn’t last more than two hours, Blansko hence spent more time travelling to the game than in it. Home batters were on fire, after a solo HR by Daniel Černý in the bottom of the second inning. It would seem that the batters also took advantage of stronger winds that were present during the game.

Daniel Černý ended with 2 HR (3-for-3). Petr Čech, who also added 5 RBI, and Matyáš Kozel, for whom it was the first one, added a homerun each. Additionally, Arrows pitcher only allowed two hits in seven innings.

Arrows now have 22 HR after ten games, which is something, we haven’t seen in Extraliga at least since 2008. Until now, Kotlářka Praha held the record, when they had 13 HR in 10 games in 2013 season. If they continue this way, Arrows can also beat Kotlářka record for the most HR in the regular season. Prague team had 58 in 2016 season. That year, however, there were 35 games played in the season.
