EXL: Excellent Arrows comeback. Blansko surprised Eagles

There were only two games played on Friday, but both of them offered a lot to watch. For the first time in the season, there were also fans watching from the stands.

Eagles Praha, the favorite in the series, traveled to Blansko. However, home starting pitcher Štěpán Havlíček relived his best performances from the past and he basically didn’t allow visitors any offense. He pitched 9 innings and threw 11 SO (personal record in Extraliga) and only allowed Eagles one run after a solo HR by Andrew Cosgrove, which came in 9th inning. By that time Blansko was winning 4-0. Three of their runs came after Jan Konrád’s wild pitches. Blansko entered the series on the high note and they got their second win on the season.

The series to watch was between rivals from Draci Brno and Arrows Ostrava. First game was played in Ostrava, however, it was the visitors who started the game better. Arnošt Dubový got a solo HR from the first pitch thrown in the game and Draci took the lead. Furthermore, they added more runs and thanks to three run HR by Adam Hajtmar they were winning 7-0 in the fourth inning.

However, Arrows found their bats in the bottom half of the fourth inning. They were able to get 4 runs against Draci starter Tomáš Hrbek which forced the substitution. Jan Vašourek stepped on the mound, however, he didn’t look too confident. Arrows batters pressed him in the sixth inning and Petr Čech topped the effort with a grand slam, giving Arrows 7-9 lead. Altogether, Čech had 5 RBI in the game, which, based on the information from baseball-stat.cz, saw him level the number of career RBI with Jiří Víšek (8th place). Ondřej Satoria and Matěj Satoria didn’t allow more runs to their opponents and Arrows wrapped up the huge comeback with a 7-9 win.
