EXL: Friday brought three great pitching performances and three dominant wins

There were three games played in Extraliga on Friday and all of them saw one team dominating. Marek Minařík excelled, when he was only three outs from a no-hitter.

Only sixteen years old Filip Votava was the hero of the duel between Arrows and Kotlářka. Home pitcher was able to hold Prague team to one hit in five innings. His teammates were doing much better in the offense. South African Tyler Smith now has 16 game hitting streak, but he also had a two run homerun. He wasn’t the only one. Michael Vykoukal also had a homerun, this time adding three RBI, which extended his hitting streak. Thanks to this, Arrows wrapped up the game after five innings winning 16-0.

Brno young starting pitcher David Mergans also excelled on the mound. In the six innings against Eagles Praha he only allowed one run. His teammate Adam Hajtmar also had a good game, after he ended on base five times (4-for-4, BB). With the win, Draci moved up in Extraliga standings ahead of their opponent.

Blansko didn’t start eighth week in a good form. On Tuesday, they were not able to get a hit against Draci and on Friday, they only got one in the eight inning against Marek Minařík. Visiting starter dominated the game, after he threw his possibly best game in Extraliga. He broke his personal record with 17 SO and he leveled the Extraliga record for Czech pitcher in a single game. That was held by Jan Novák from Hluboká who achieved 17 SO in a game earlier this month.

Minařík also showed his strength at bat, as he had 3 hits and 3 RBI. In the end Tempo won 10-0. The win got them closer to sixth place that is currently occupied by Třebíč.
