Lineup of the Month – April
In collaboration with Czech Baseball Association, we will be bringing you Lineup of the Month. The first lineup we reveal is for April. Due to Blansko quarantine, both Olympia and Draci had fewer games played.
Michal Ondráček, who had the best BA and OBP this month, can’t miss in the lineup. He helped Hroši to enter the season in style. Kellen Croce, Ondráček’s teammate, also has place in this month’s lineup.
Hluboká nad Vltavou took two places. We picked Jan Novák for the pitching spot, as he created new historical record of the league. Wesley Roemer, who played at bat and on the mound, finished April with .500 OBP.
Arrows Ostrava has the most players picked. Petr Čech is only one of two players with at least 16 AB who are still without striking out. All four Arrows players had OBP above .500 and together they amassed 42 hits in seven games.
Třebíč Ryan Johnson is not missing either. It’s obvious the teams respect him, as he was issued 14 walks in April and a lot of them were intentional. Johnson ranked first in RBI (14) for April.
Eagles Praha has two players in the lineup. On the third base, where there was the least competition, we picked Czech international Petr Zýma. A more interesting nomination is Albert Pražák, who we chose as a reliever. This fifteen years old talent showed, he was not afraid of baseball veterans. He played four games in April, out of which two were against Hluboká and one against Arrows. In 10.2 IP he only allowed 2 runs. If he can keep this up, he will be a front runner for the Rookie of the Year award.
