MiLB: Martin Červenka entered the season with a homerun
Czech national team catcher started in the first season game for New York Mets minors club. And it was a dream start.
Martin Červenka, slightly unexpectedly, started in the lineup for Triple-A club Syracuse Mets, only one step from MLB. He was eight in the lineup and right with his first at bat, he sent the ball behind the fence and with a solo homerun gave Syracuse 1-0 lead.
By the end of the game, he was the best batter for his team, with 2 hits from 3 AB and also a BB. Thanks to this performance, Syracuse won 5-2 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the minors team for New York Yankees.
