PBW: Slovak national team was defeated by Sweden
Slovak national team prepares for European Champions qualification at Prague Baseball Week. The first game, however, didn’t go as expected for them.
First half of the game wasn’t too bad for Slovakia. After a hit by Denis Pakši and Tomáš Biskorovajný’s run they were even leading 1-0. Swedes, however, leveled the score quickly. Marcus Racík, Slovakia starting pitcher, threw 3 innings and he didn’t allow any more runs.
After him, Daniel Just stepped on the mound and his pitches didn’t seem to cause too much trouble to Swedish team. In the fifth inning they added two runs, taking the lead. But this was only the beginning, as Sweden added 10 more runs, finishing the game and earning their first win.
Both teams will play against Czech U18 on Thursday. Slovakia will play after Sweden at 16:30 local time. If Scandinavians win, they will play in the second phase for 1st to 4th place. In case of their loss, Slovakia can advance to play against first three team is Group A. For that they will need to win against Czech Republic. Otherwise, they will play for 5th to 7th place.
