PBW: Slovakia lost against International Stars
Slovak national team played their last game at Prague Baseball Weekend against International Stars team.
Slovak started Michal Puškár against Ryan Saunders. Both pitchers kept their opponents scoreless in the first two innings. This changed in the third, after Slovakia loaded the bases with two outs and after Michal Puškár’s hit, they got a two run lead.
Slovakia kept the lead till the fourth inning. In it they made several errors which helped their experienced opponent score three runs. Furthermore, in the fifth inning after Ryan Johnson’s solo homerun, International Stars increased their lead. International Stars were also able to load the bases after more errors from Slovakia and add two more runs. Slovaks responded with a Michal Puškár’s run in the next inning.
And it was Puškár who was substituted by Adam Zacko in the sixth inning. Zacko was welcomed by a Johson’s second solo homerun in the game. An inning later, Graeham Luttor added two run homerun against him as well. International Stars loaded the bases in the same inning again and after Brandon Marshall got to walk, they added their ninth run of the game. This heralded the pitching change for Slovakia and Marcus Racík entered the game.
However, International Stars loaded the bases again. This lead to a long battle between Racík and Andrew Cosgrove which culminated into the batter getting hit by a pitch and eleventh run for International Stars. Ryan Mirza then followed with a walk, moving International Stars closer to an early win. The 13th run, which finished the game on mercy rule, came from Bryce Aldridge who sent Nick Sciubba home with a sacrificial hit.
Slovakia lost their third game at Prague Baseball Week and they finished in the last place. The tournament was a preparation for European Championship qualification tournament, where they will hope to get better results.
