SBL: Jelka has its first win after returning to the league

There were already three weeks of SBL played. For the first time in the season, we saw a narrow game.

Apollo Bratislava – Spiders-Fooze Bratislava 16-0
The week started on Wednesday with Apollo against Spiders-Fooze Bratislava, although we didn’t witness any surprises here, as the reigning champion Apollo dominated their opponent. Martin Brunegraf (0-for-2, 2 BB) was the only Apollo player not to register a hit, however, all of their players had at least one RBI. For Spiders-Fooze, it was Korbély and Skrak who were able to get a hit.

Spiders-Fooze Bratislava – BK Jelka Maceitos 9-14
Three days after their first game, Spiders-Fooze played against Jelka and Bratislava team entered the game well, leading 7-0 after three innings. However, Jelka had a great second half, scoring 14 runs in the last four innings. It was particularly Oskar Novák who led the Jelka attack, after he had 5 hits. František Csefalway added 5 of 14 RBI for his team. Maceitos managed to mount a comeback and win the game which also meant the first win since returning to SBL in 2019. Furthermore, it was also the first game in the league that didn’t end early on mercy rule.

Angels Trnava B – Apollo Bratislava B 4-6
The game between Apollo and Angels promised a good showing. Home team entered it better, after veteran Ronald Kupka gave them a lead on a wild pitch. Apollo then took the lead with two runs in the third inning and they wouldn’t let it go till the end of the game. Visitors could rely on their starter Martin Gieci and reliever Juraj Bartók who only allowed one hit each. Apollo B has their second win on the season.

Angels Trnava B – BK Jelka Maceitos 17-2
There was only one game played in Trnava on Sunday. This time Apollo B played against Jelka. Maceitos was not able to follow their Saturday win as they were loosing 0-8 after two innings. Home team was doing well at bat, registering 19 hits and 17 runs. Filip Hoffmann and Lukáš Slíž both had 4 hits.
