Arrows and Draci will play in European cups
Starting on Tuesday, a duo of Czech teams will represent the country in European cups. Arrows in the most prestigious one, Champions Cup, and Draci in CEB Cup.
Champions Cup is even more special this year, as it takes place in Ostrava and Frýdek-Místek. And it’s the home turf advantage that should help Arrows to fight for first two spots in the group that will ensure they advance to the semi-finals. They have a tough road ahead of them, however, as they will play against three good teams – L&D Amsterdam, Bonn Capitals and 1949 Parma Baseball Club A.S.D. Stakes are high as teams outside of the semi-finals will have to battle to remain in the competition next year.
Ostrava will hope to fare better than in 2019, where they beat Belgian champions two times, but lost all the remaining games. Arrows should also have plenty of fan support available, as they will be playing night games where there are more people expected.
Draci will try to get the second spot
If Arrows keep the spot in the Champions Cup, it is possible Czech Republic will have two teams in the competition next year. Extraliga 2020 champions will attempt to get the second spot for Extraliga teams in CEB Cup in France. Brno team will play against Belarusian Minsk, French Sénart Templiers, Austrian Dornbirn Indians, Swiss Therwil Flyers and Spanish Astros Valencia. The home team and Spaniards don’t hide their ambition to play Champions Cup in 2022.
