Bundesliga: Regensburg headed for semi-finals
German baseball league continued over the weekend. Czech fans were interested mainly in the series between Legionäre and Reds, as Legionäre has two Czech players in the roster. In the end, only one of them played.
Stuttgart Reds – Guggenberger Legionäre 4-15, 6-7
Teams split the games in the first week and so the it was certain there will be at least two more games played. The first one was dominated by Regensburg, who ended the game after seven innings. Tomáš Ondra threw one inning, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. The second game was much closer, Regensburg managed to level the score in the ninth inning and so the extra innings had to decide the winner. The game extended till thirteenth inning, when Legionäre scored a run. The home team couldn’t get one back, however, and Regensburg’s win advanced them to semi-finals, where they will play against Heidenheim.
Mainz – Tübingen 10-1, 16-6
Tübingen with Kamil Pejchal played in the placement group. Czech pitched in the first game, where he only remained for three innings, as his opponents scored 8 runs and 3 HR. Pejchal managed to score the only run for Tübingen with a solo homerun. He played as a catcher in the second game adding one hit. This time, it wasn’t enough either, as his team lost the game.
