Champions Cup: Arrows beat Bonn to earn their first win

The game between Bonn Capitals and Arrows Ostrava had to wait for its start till 10pm. It would not decide the standings in the group as Bonn was certain to finish first in Group B, while Ostrava would finish last.

Arrows wanted to play for the fans in the standings, however. They started the first inning with two runs. Unfortunately, the beginning of the game was marked by lighting blackout and so there had to be several minutes of delay. Pause apparently got home team energized when their bats exploded in the third inning, as Arrows scored 11 runs.

Bonn scored their first runs in the bottom half of the inning, decreasing Arrows lead to nine runs thanks to the triple from Danny Lankhorst.

The score remained unchanged for two innings afterwards. We had to wait for solo homerun from Michael Vykoukal in the sixth inning to see Arrows lead increased to 10 runs. Home team could start thinking about an early win. However, Bonn had different plans, scoring two runs after Justus Recki two run homerun.

Vykoukal was in the game inning later, where he authored the hit which scored in Arrows 18th run. In the bottom half, Germans only added a solo homerun from Vincent Ahrens and game ended on mercy rule. Arrows will play an important game against Heidenheim on Friday. If they win, they will share fifth place and more importantly will keep the spot in Champions Cup for Czech Republic next year. The loss would mean they would play for seventh place on Saturday.
