Champions Cup: Ostrava lost against Parma and won’t play in semi-finals
The game between Arrows and Parma had to be postponed due to inclement weather and the make up game was scheduled at 10am on Thursday. The duel was important for both teams, as it would determine their chances to play in the semi-finals.
Italians had a much better start of the game. They seemed to have found Alexandr Šín’s weakness and thanks to Leomartires Rodriguez’s grand slam, Parma was ahead 7-0 after three innings.
Despite the unfortunate start, Ostrava didn’t give up, quiet the opposite, as they showed their quality at bat. First, they scored three runs in the fourth inning, only to add 4 more in the seventh, changing the score to 7-10. Unfortunately Italians responded with three runs in the following inning, increasing their lead to 6.
Home team had a chance to take the win in the last inning, however. Arrows loaded the bases with one out, followed by single from Daniel Černý who scored in a run. Next two batters weren’t as successful, unfortunately, and Ostrava took the second loss in the tournament. The loss means they won’t play in the semi-finals and instead, they will have to fight to remain in the tournament for the next year. Before this game, they will play the last group game against Bonn Capitals.
