European Championship U15: Slovakia lost their first game against Italy
Slovak U15 played their first game of U15 European Championship (EC) in Trnava on Wednesday. They faced the silver medalist from 2019 U15 EC, Italy.
Italy was the favorite to win. And they didn’t let anything to a chance. The team was ahead 3-0 before Slovakia played the first out. In the end, they managed to score 7 runs in the first inning, helped by errors in Slovak defense.
Their opponent managed to gradually increase the lead and was ahead 12-0 after three innings. Slovakia was the last team to score, however, when they had a sole run in the fourth inning. Matej Uhnavý scored in Samuel Chrvala after a sacrificial hit.
Slovakia lost 1-12 to Italy in five innings. Furthermore, their next game is against another tough opponent in Netherlands. The game starts on Thursday at 16:00 local time.
