NExl: Třebíč has 4 wins. Blansko in trouble
Promotion League played its second week over the weekend. So far Třebíč looks the most likely to remain in Extraliga.
Olympia Blansko – Kotlářka Praha 4-5
Kotlářka Praha – Olympia Blansko 5-0
After first two losses against Nuclears, Blansko knew that any other loss will significantly decrease their chances to remain in Extraliga. However, the first game against Kotlářka on Friday didn’t go as they expected. Prague team attacked in the first inning, scoring 4 runs. Home Luis Rengel then found his composure while Blansko batters also found their power. Despite this, Blansko had to wait for six inning to level the score and the game begun anew. It seemed that Rengel became tired in the eight inning, as he let three batters on bases and along with Blansko error, Kotlářka scored fifth run. Prague team then sent Patrik Kolkus on the mound, who closed the game.
Second game in Prague was also close, where fans had to wait till the bottom of the fourth inning to see the first run scored. Adam Matuška scored in Matěj Šůcha. It turned out this run was also the one to win the game. Home starter Lukáš Ercoli wouldn’t allow any runs in eight innings pitched. Adam Lovecký then continued with dominant performance and Kotlářka finished the game with a shutout. Blansko lost their fourth game in Promotion League and their chances to remain in Extraliga are rapidly decreasing.
Třebíč Nuclears – Blesk Jablonec 8-7
Blesk Jablonec – Třebíč Nuclears 3-9
The first game between Nuclears and Blesk offered an incredible drama. Home team had to save the end of the game in which they were loosing for majority of the time. Třebíč went ahead in the first inning after 2 RBI hit from Patrik Kadrnožka. Jablonec, however, then started to scored gradually and turned the score to 6-2 in their favor. North Bohemians had AJ Fell on the mound, who wouldn’t allow home team much. Everything changed in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Třebíč scored two runs. An inning later they even leveled the score with two runs and Fell was out of the game.
Game went into extra innings. In it, visitors scored after Nuclears error, but Jeffrey Barto then threw 3 SO and home team had a chance to return the favor. And it was their first hit in extra innings which finished the game. Richard Sázavský scored in two runners with his double and Nuclears celebrated.
Třebíč scored first to lead 2-0 in Jablonec after Ryan Johnson’s homerun. This time, Nuclears managed to control the game. This was hugely thanks to Johnson, who added six innings pitched to great bat. He only allowed 3 runs while on the mound. His teammates did much better against Jiří Hikl, scoring 6 runs in five innings. Nuclears sent Jeffrey Barto on the mound for last three innings, which turned out to be a good move as Blesk wasn’t able to get any hits against him.
Třebíč earned their fourth win from four games in Promotion League and they seemed likely to keep Extraliga for next season. On the other hand, Jablonec and Blansko are beginning to run in trouble with their chances. Next week, Blansko will face Jablonec, and Třebíč will play Kotlářka, the two games which will shape the final standings.
