NExl: Only two teams remain in the battle for the second Extraliga spot

There were two series played in Promotion League in the previous week. Technika Brno didn’t grab their chance to solidify the second spot in the standings and will have to wait till the end of the league to see if they play in Extraliga next year. On the other hand, Blesk Jablonec lost any chance to return to the top flight of Czech baseball.

Technika could be certain of the second place in the standings were they to beat current leader from Třebíč. However, team from Vysočina showed their dominance when they beat Brno team in both games. In the first game Technika was ahead 2-1 after four innings, however, after Michal Sobotka was substituted, Trebíč found power in their bats and added 13 runs in 4 innings. Patrik Kadrnožka and Richard Sázavský added one homerun each. In the end, Nuclears won the game 14-8.

Second game was dominated by the foreign pitchers. Ryan Johnson became the hero for Nuclears in the end. He threw a complete game shutout and added two run homerun in the first inning. Additionally, he earned 19 strikeouts. Technika batters were only able to get three hits on him. Třebíč continues with the dominant performance and currently holds 85:32 score in Promotion League.

While Bučovice knew they will be back in First League next season, Prague team still had chance to get back to Extraliga. However, they needed to confirm they role as the favorite and win both games. In the end Kotlářka managed just that and after two dominant wins they finished Promotion League with 6 wins and 4 losses. The promotion is not in their hands, however, as Bučovice play the final series against Technika Brno. If Technika wins both games, they would be promoted ahead of Prague team.
