U12 European Championship: Czechs beat reigning champions Italy and are step closer to semifinals
Incredible performance from Czech U12 national team saw them winning the second game at U12 European Championship when they beat Italy, who is hoping to get golden hattrick.
Neither of the teams scored in the first inning, but it was Czechs who reached the home base first in the second after hit from Adam Tošovský. However, Italy responded in the following half of the inning and leveled the score.
Fortunately, Czechs didn’t hold back in the third inning. Matouš Procházka’s team jump ahead of their opponents with six runs scored, leading 7-1 in the middle of the third inning. Now it was up to them to hold the lead.
Czechs substituted pitching, Filip Duda came in for Petr Fojta. Duda was then substituted in the third inning by Dominik Durlin and third inning finished 7-3. Durlin didn’t allow any more runs for the remainder of the game and Czechs could celebrate the important win. They will play the evening game against France next, but win against Italy gives them some breathing room. If they lose against France, they will need to beat Hungary, who is, however, not one of the favorites of the tournament.
