U18 EXL: Eagles Praha celebrates the title
Despite losing one of two games at the home last week, they won both games when series continued in Brno and with three wins in the series, Eagles Praha became U18 Extraliga champions.
Prague team started the third game well, scoring the first run in the first inning thanks to Tadeáš Zavadil. Draci managed to get the 2-1 lead in next two innings. In the fourth inning both teams substituted their starters. The substitution went better for Eagles, as Albert Pražák only allowed one hit to Draci in four innings he pitched. His teammates did much better against Ondřej Králik and with three runs in the last inning, Eagles took the win.
It was clear that Draci needed to win the fourth game, if they wanted to extend the series. However, Eagles had a great start to the game once again, when Filip Kubíček, as the first batter, hit a triple. In the end, Prague team scored four runs in two innings against Tomáš Urbánek. This was all from their offense, as Vojtěch Prokop and Vincent Major didn’t allow them more runs. Eagles pitchers weren’t far behind, however, as Vasko Kolev and Matyáš Trčka only allowed Draci two runs. Eagles won the second game in Brno as well and could celebrate the U18 Extraliga title.
With the loss, Draci finish second and they won’t add fifth title in a row. For Eagles this is the first title since 2019, when the competition was split to two divisions, with Eagles winning the Czech division and Draci Moravian one.
EDIT: Based on the changes in the competition rules, Eagles are winners of U18 Extraliga. The champions are yet to be decided at Czech champions, which will be played in September.
