U18: Extraliga finale is leveled after the first week

Extraliga U18 final series started on Sunday, when Eagles Praha hosted Draci Brno.

Draci started the first game well, scoring 5 runs on Eagles starter Albert Pražák. On the other hand Tomáš Urbánek only allowed 2 runs in four innings and topped it with 6 strikeouts. Eagles made the game more dramatic after Urbánek stepped from the mound, coming as close as one run from their opponent. They were not far from leveling the score, when they had a runner at third base in the seventh inning. They were unable to bat him in, however, and so Draci took the first game 6-5.

What wasn’t meant to be in the first game, Eagles fixed in the second. Here, they too had to catch up with Draci, who were ahead 4-1 after six innings and only needed three outs to get the second win in the series. The outs were the responsibility of Draci reliever Patrik Moštěk, but after a good sixth inning, the seventh didn’t go according to the plan. Home team managed to press him with a series of hits and walks. Eagles leveled the score after Tadeáš Zavadil got walked with bases loaded. Few moments later, Eagles celebrated the victory, curtesy of Michal Antoň‘s walk-off hit.

The series is leveled at 1-1 after the first week and the remaining three games will now move to Brno.
