European Championship: Slovakia lost the second game to Sweden

Second day of European Championship saw Slovak national team face Sweden. One bad inning meant the second loss, in the end.

Slovakia started the game with Michal Puškár on the mound. He was able to keep his opponents scoreless for the first inning. Swedes then started the second inning with a double from Johannessen and after an RBI from Melendez, they were leading by a run.

The score lasted till the fifth inning, which turned out to be a disaster for Slovak fans. Swedes batted around, and with a constant pressure they forced defensive errors and Slovakia substituted their pitcher. New pitcher Daniel Just couldn’t stop the northerners either, however. Swedes scored ten runs in the inning and build a substantial lead. Denis Pakší also didn’t finish the inning due to a minor muscle injury.

Slovaks were close to scoring themselves in the following inning, when they got a runner on the third base, but in the end, they were unable to score. They also loaded the bases in the seventh inning, but after a communication error, they were out on the second base.

Slovakia will have to wait for their first win of the tournament. They play their next game against the favorite from Czech Republic on Tuesday afternoon.
