MS U23: Tough loss with Germany for Czechia
On Saturday evening played Czech team very important match against Germany. Loss could complicate their chances for TOP 6.
Czech manager sent Filip Čapka on the mound. In lineup there was Martin Kalábek for the first time on tournament. German team started with Simon Gross, which played in Netherlands this season.
First two innings dominated both starters and nobody scored any runs. It changed in top of the third when Germany scored 4 runs.
Czech team waited for first hit till bottom of fourth when Vojtěch Menšík hits double. After walks for Filip Smola and Martin Červinka they had bases loaded with one out. Germany reacted with pitching change and on the mound stand Samouel Steigert. But he hit by pitch Jakub Grepl and Czechia had first run. Second batted in Martin Kalábek. Then Steigert helped himsef with two strikeouts.
Next run czech team scored in bottom of sixth after RBI double by Ondřej Kalandra. Unfortunatelly for them Germany scored two more runs in seventh inning.
Czech team needed at least three more runs in bottom of inning to stay in the game. And they started great when they loaded bases without any out. Germany substituted pitcher and sent on the mound Joe Cedano de Leon. New pitcher made his job well when he allowed only one run.
Czechia loss the game 4-6 and make their chances for Super round more complicated. Now they have two more game in round robin against Dominican republic a Cuba.
