Martin Červenka signed with Toros del Este
Dominican LIDOM league starts on Wednesday. The league is known for players who play in MLB or MiLB. This year, Czech fans will have one more reason to watch the games however, as Czech national catcher Martin Červenka, will play there once again.
LIDOM is not an unknown for Červenka. Two years ago, he played two games there, when he wore Gigantes del Cibao jersey. Toros will hope to play him more, however. „Martin will be a huge boost for us. He knows how to observe the game and his defense will be to our benefit,“ said Toros GM Raymond Abreu. „Last year, our home base defense cost us a lot, so we looked to improve it this year.“
Twenty-nine year old Červenka played this season for New York Mets minors team Syracuse. He’s currently a free agent who will be hoping to catch MLB scouts‘ interest by playing in Dominican league.
