Czechs improved by two spots in world ranking
World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) published new World rankings on Thursday. And it was a positive sight for Czech fans, as the national team improved by two spots.
Czech Republic now sits in 14th spot, overtaking Nicaragua and Puerto Rico. They are still the second in Europe, with only Netherlands, who are currently at 8th place, ahead of them. Czechs still need a few points to overtake 12th Canada to get a chance to play Premier 12 tournament.
Women’s team kept 20th place as they, unlike their male counterparts, didn’t play any games due to covid.
Slovakia fell two spots and is currently holding 35th spot.
As in the previous ranking, Japan, who won the Olympic tournament previous year, kept #1 spot, while Taiwan moved to 2nd, which was previous occupied by South Korea. Mexico moved to 4th place ahead of USA. Venezuela improved the most from Top 10 teams and currently sits on 6th place. Overall Sweden was the most improved team, moving 33 spots to 40th place.
