EXL: Technika announced their first foreign player
Technika, who returns to Extraliga after a year in First League, announced their first foreign player for 2022. It is Venezuelan Adrian Pernalete.
Twenty-three year old Pernalete played three seasons in Dominican summer league, where he was under Texas Rangers organization. But even .345 BA in 2018 wasn’t enough and Rangers let him ago. Since then he was playing in Venezuela and Mexico, becoming the best offensive player in Mexican lower league Liga Capitalina Mexicana in 2020-2021 season.
In the previous season he was supposed to play in a new-found European Super League of Professional Baseball, which, unfortunately, didn’t start and hence Pernalete moved to the Czech Republic. In Technika he will play as a catcher and a shortstop, but he also has experience playing as a first baseman and in the right field.
Pernalete also shows his ambition to become the best offensive player of the league in the interview for the team webpage: „I want to compete for the best offensive player award. It goes hand-in-hand with the desire to lead the team in battles for the top spots,“ said young Venezuelan.
