Melbourne Aces signed Genevieve Beacom
Despite 2021/2022 season being cancelled, Australian ABL team Melbourne Aces is not waiting around. They signed a young pitcher Genevieve Beacom to the development roster. Beacom will become the first female player to be part of ABL roster.
This is not the first time Beacom made a history, however, as she was also the first female pitcher to throw in Victoria Summer Baseball League Division 1. The seventeen year old pitcher impressed after she threw with ERA 0.00 in U16 category.
Melbourne Aces, coached by former Draci Brno player Peter Moylan thus acquired an interesting player. As Moylan said for Aces web page, he was following the young player’s career since the junior days and it was her talent against the best players in the country that earned her the spot. The player herself believes that training with Aces will help her play in College games in US.
Despite the cancelled season, Melbourne Aces will play friendly games this weekend, between 5th and 7th of January. It is possible, we could already see Beacom in action, as the games will be televised.
