Possible reinforcement for the national team? Eric Sogard has Czech passport
Czech baseball is always on the lookout for new options of strengthening their national team, one of which is looking for players with Czech roots. Due to Czech laws, however, which are one of the strictest in Europe when it comes to nationality, ČBA had a much more difficult path ahead of them when compared to other countries. A good news surfaced recently, however.
As Pavel Chadim, the new manager of the national team, stated for iDnes.cz, a long-term MLB player with Czech roots Eric Sogard has his Czech passport ready in Washington.

The older of Sogard brothers is currently a free agent. The thirty-five year old played 815 games in MLB, with numbers reaching .246/.313./.338 and 26 HR. He played the second base most frequently. Sogard started his MLB career in 2010 in Oakland Athletics organization, while his previous season was played for Chicago Cubs.
Name Eric Sogard was connected to Czech national team for a while, however, he is yet to play a game for the team. On the other hand, his younger brother Alex already represented Czech Republic in 2016 at World Baseball Classic.
