EXL: Move of the season! Martin Červenka is Eagles Praha player
Prague Extraliga team Eagles Praha announced a new player. Czech international player Martin Červenka moves from Kotlářka Praha to Krč. The information was announced on the social networks.
While the details are not known yet, it is expected that were Červenka to find a spot in some of the professional teams overseas, we are unlikely to see him in Extraliga. It is also unlikely Eagles will stop him from moving if he finds a new team during the season. As the catcher himself mentioned in On_Deck podcast, his agents is currently attempting to get him a new contract with an MLB organization.
Červenka last appeared in Extraliga in 2020, where he helped out Kotlářka in the playoff. In the regular season, his latest game came in 2011 when he was 18 years old. It is interesting to note that he played 29 games in Extraliga between age 15 and 18, with BA .345. Afterwards, he played 10 seasons in MiLB, where he appeared in 617 games with .235/.305/.350 and 43 HR. He spent this winter in LIDOM, where he played for Toros del Este, batting .179 in 18 games.
He is also the first Czech player to reach Triple-A in MLB system and we certainly hope his dream of playing in MLB will come true. As he mentioned in On_Deck podcast, he was really close to being called up last year in September, however, in the end it was not meant to be.
