Australia: Second round of Women’s Baseball Showcase in a few months
Almost a year after the inaugural exhibition games took place in Australia, Baseball Australia announced the second round of the showcase. This time it will take place in Victoria, Australia between 5th and 8th May. Hence, fans can look forward to the best Australian women’s baseball has to offer once again.
The three teams, Adelaide Giants, Brisbane Bandits, and Victoria Aces, will face each other this year, playing seven games. The showcase is meant as a preparation for the professional women’s baseball league, which has been forming in Australia since 2019. Unfortunately, due to the strict lockouts during the pandemic situation, the start of the league had to be postponed.
Based on the available information, the games should once again be televised.
Baseball Australia also plans the state vs. state championship, which should take place in April. The championship will be played for the first time in two years. Both events are a part of efforts to create a sustainable environment for women’s baseball in the country.
