Czech national team played the first friendly match on Tuesday
National team, under the lead of new coach Pavel Chadim, will play a series of friendly games at Tenerife this week. Czechs played the first of them against France on Tuesday.
Czechs entered the game with Tomáš Duffek on the mound. He threw 3 innings, not allowing any runs to French. On the other hand, his team was able to take the lead in the first inning, after the hit from Matěj Menšík when Jakub Kubica reached the home base.
The 1-0 score lasted till the fifth inning, when Czechs scored again. Thanks to a solo homerun from Marek Krejčiřík they were ahead 2-0. However, it was the last two innings which saw the scoring outburst from both sides. Jake Rabinowitz premier in Czech jersey brought three runs to French, giving them the lead in the sixth inning. In the bottom half Czechs returned the favor and so the last inning started 5-3 with extra inning rules and runners on bases.
France was able to take advantage of the situation thanks to the grand slam from Bastien Dagneun they took 10-5 lead. Czech didn’t capitulate, however and they consistently lowered their opponent’s lead until Martin Červenka leveled the score with a three run homerun.
Naturally, the score is not that important in the friendly games and teams tend to protect their pitchers, so some of the innings weren’t played for three outs. It is, however, good to see that the national team didn’t lose anything from their prowess under the new coach as they kept fighting till the end. Pavel Chadim’s team will play two more games against France and two games against hosts Tenerife Marlins.
