Czech U18 Baseball Academy won Catalan Week
Catalan Week is one of the traditional tournaments for the European youth baseball teams. In the same way, Czechs are regularly invited as Czech Baseball Academy.
The youngest category on the tournament is U12. There, Czechs only beat London in the group stage, which meant they played with German Stuttgart, the game they lost 3-9, finishing fourth.
Czechs started U15 category with a 8-6 win against Netherlands Scimitars. After losing 4-15 to Catalonia, Czechs won their next game against Lithuanian Radviliškis, followed by 1-8 loss against Italian Nettuno. Thanks to this Czech youngsters got a chance to once again play for bronze medals, unfortunately, after losing 3-11 to London they finished fourth.
The oldest of the Czech teams had the best tournament run. They entered with 10-0 win against Netherlands, to only narrowly lose to London (5-6). Next day they added two wins – 9-2 against Italy and 3-2 against the hosting team. On Sunday Czechs played the finale against Italians. Youngsters beat their opponents 8-0 and brought back well deserved gold.
