EXL: Draci still winning. Arrows broke the loosing streak
Friday saw another round of Czech Extraliga start with games in Ostrava and Brno. And in both cases it was the home team who took win.
Arrows welcomed Eagles Praha and they needed the win to break their loosing streak. That’s why they started Alec Lemmon who gave them a chance to win with an excellent performance. Lemmon threw 6 innings, allowing 3 runs and striking out 12 batters. Home batters were much more efficient against Eagles starter Albert Pražák. They loaded the bases in the second inning, to take a 5-0 lead after a walk for Kubica and doubles from Malík and Grepl.
Visitors scored in the fourth inning for the first time in the game, thanks to a solo homerun from Martin Červenka. However, every time Eagles came close to Arrows, it was the visitors who managed to respond better. Matyáš Kozel was doing especially well in the offense, helping his team with 4 hits and a homerun. In the end, Arrows scored 12 run from 16 hits, which was their best offensive performance of the season so far.

YD Baseball Arena in Brno welcomed the local rival from Hroši. Both teams started Czech pitchers as fans got to see Filip Čapka and Jakub Bílek. They were able to keep their opponents scoreless until the third inning, when Hroši took the lead thanks to Petr Čech‘s hit.
Draci first posted the runs on board in the bottom half of the fourth inning, when Tomáš Chadim scored 2 runs with a homerun. An inning later, home team pressured Bílek and Hroši decided to change the pitcher. For the first time this season we could see Australian John Hussey step on the mound. However, he also had trouble stopping Draci offense at the beginning and so home team took a 3 run lead.
In the following inning Hroši managed to get into a promising position, when they loaded the bases without an out. They scored only two runs, however, which turned out to be the last runs they scored in the game. Václav Tauš on Draci mound then closed the game, not allowing any more chances to the visitors. With the win Draci extended their winning series to 13 games.
