EXL: Nuclears managed to win in Ostrava

The weather once again stopped the entire schedule from being played on Friday. This time the game in Brno had to be postponed.

Two teams with the worst batting average from the beginning of the season met in Arrows Park and so the expectations were not high to see many runs. This came to be as the game had to wait till the extra innings for its resolution.

Home team entered the game better, gaining the lead after the second inning. Their pitcher Boris Bokaj had his first start of the season and managed to keep Arrows opponents scoreless until the fifth inning. Nuclears then tied after a double from Lukáš Malý, for the same player to give the visitors the lead after a wild pitch.

Nuclears then sent Ryan Johnson on the mound, who was tasked to lead his team to the victory. However, Arrows tied the game an inning later and the game promised a dramatic finish. This was further amplified by the home team sending in the recently announced foreign pitcher Alec Lemmon. He showed from the get go he didn’t lose any of his skills over the winter and the game remained 3-3 after 9 innings.

Extra innings showed neither of the team had a good offensive season so far as neither of them scored, despite starting the inning with two runners on bases. However, Arrows made two errors in the eleventh inning after they didn’t catch two fly balls and Třebíč managed to score two runs. On the other hand, visitor’s defense helped Johnson in the bottom half of the inning and Nuclears could cheer for their first win of the series. The series now moves to Vysočina where Nuclears get a chance to grab a valuable win over current Extraliga champions.
