EXL: Opening Day belongs to Draci Brno
There was planned two games on Opening Day in czech Extraliga. Unfortunatelly because of snow they played only one in Brno.
It didn’t snow in Brno, but the temperatures in the YD Baseball Arena dropped just above zero, so most fans preferred livestream, rather than personal participation in the stadium. Those who came could personally see the excellent entry of the home team into the game. Draci pushed to Tomáš Duffek right at the beginning and after two innings they were already leading 6-0.
Eagles did not give up and gradually found a recipe against Filip Čapek and began to catch up. In the sixth inning, after Jan Nebenführ replaced Čapka on the mound, they even caught up with the difference of a single run. However, the guests also replaced their starter in bottom of sixth, and the Draci took advantage of that by withdrawing another three runs.
The home team won 9-6 in the game. The trio of Martin Červinka, Eugene Helder and Jakub Hajtmar scored each three hits. Catcher Martin Červenka debuted in Eagles jersey for the first time in a competitive duel and he had only one walk and no hits. Draci Brno thus entered the new season with a win, but they still have to fight for the victory in the series on the weekend.
