EXL: Player of the Week awards go to Martin Červinka and James Boyce
Same as in the previous season, Czech Baseball Association gives the fans chance to vote for the Player of the Week awards. The first awards of the season go to Martin Červinka and James Boyce.
After the departures of Martin Schneider and Přemek Chroust, twenty-five year old Martin Červinka is expected to take on the role of Draci leader. He showed just why there are such high hopes for him in the series against Eagles Praha when he earned 8 hits from 13 at bats. He also added 2 walks, increasing his OBP to .688. He takes the Batter of the Week award after earning 54% of the votes in the duel against Matěj Vlach.
There were also two options among the pitchers, namely John Kennedy from Hroši and James Boyce from Hluboká. In the end Boyce took 64% of more than 500 votes and took Pitcher of the Week award, for his performance against Technika Brno, where he threw 6 innings without an earned run and only allowed 2 hits, while dishing out 9 strikeouts.
Both Martin Červinka and James Boyce took the weekly award for the first time in their career.
