EXL: Třebíč celebrates their first win of the season
The last three games of the second Extraliga week were played on Sunday. Both finalists from the previous year took a win as well as Třebíč for whom it was the first win of the season.
Arrows Ostrava – Hroši Brno 3-1
Both teams started with young pitchers. Home team started Alexandr Šín and visitors Matyáš Němčanský. The duel went better for Šín in the end, who remained on the mound till the fifth inning without allowing any runs and only one hit. Němčanský left the mound in the second inning after he walked three batters and hit one player with a pitch.
The whole game was dominated by pitchers in the end, when batters on both sides only got two hits each. Thanks to the walks, home team managed to score 3 runs in first two innings. This was enough for the win, as Hroši were only only able to score once. After 3-1 victory Arrows got their first series win.
Sokol Hluboká – Draci Brno 0-4
Draci entered the season with five wins and they wanted to keep their streak going in the Southern Czechia. However, it took them a while to hit against James Boyce who didn’t allow any runs in five innings he was on the mound. However, his defense didn’t help him much in the sixth inning and Draci managed to score three times. The fourth one came after a solo homerun against Štěpán Havlíček when Eugene Helder blasted the ball.
On the other hand, Draci defense worked well. Tomáš Hrbek only allowed 2 hits and walked 4 batters in the five innings he pitched. He also striked out 6 batters. The game was then closed by Jan Nebenführ and Viktor Večerka who only allowed one hit. Draci kept Hluboká scoreless for the second time in the series. Brno team is now 6-0 on the season and is slowly beginning to knock on the door of Top 6.
Třebíč Nuclears – Tempo Praha 5-4
Each team entered the series from a different position. Tempo didn’t lose a single game till Sunday, on the other hand Třebíč was yet to win. In the end, home team managed to get the desired result and grab the win in the first home game they played, but it was still much closer than they wanted to. Nuclears could rely on their foreign players. Starting pitcher Olando Romero threw 6 innings with 4 runs allowed. The game was then closed by Jeffrey Barto who didn’t allow any hits. As far as batting goes, Jaylyn Williams had 3 hits and 3 RBI. He himself got the fifth, decisive, run.
Visitors started Ondřej Vank who had a good game on the mound, when he only allowed 2 hits and 1 run in 4 pitched innings. Tempo’s substitution, however, didn’t work, when Štěpán Dupal couldn’t hold his team’s lead and allowed 4 tuns. It was the first loss of the season for Tempo.
