College Baseball: Chlup and Bauer won tournaments
College and high school seasons are slowly coming to an end over the seas. But for Czechs it is marked with a lot of positives.
North Greenville University, where Marek Chlup plays, played the final Conference Carolinas tournament, where they competed for the promotion to regional NCAA tournament. And they managed to do so, when they went through the tournament without a loss. But it wasn’t all easy for them, as NGU was 1-5 behind after seven innings in the final game. But Chlup started the comeback in the eight inning with a an RBI double. Their teammates then finished it in the ninth inning. NGU thus won the conference tournament for the fourth time in a row. Chlup had 5 hits and 3 BB in 4 games.
David Bauer also had a reason to celebrate as his Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs also won their regional tournament. In the final game Bauer helped his team to 4-1 win with 2 hits and 2 RBI. He also frustrated the opponent’s defenses with their fast feet, adding a few stolen bases.
Currently it’s only the Division I teams that haven’t finished their season yet. On of these is Charleston Southern with Daniel Padyšák. He played in the second game of the doubleheader against Presbyterian. Czech pitcher had one of the better game of the season, when he only allowed 2 hits in 4.2 IP and only walked one player. His team won 4-2 and is currently with record 18-25.
Adam Jacques also finished his season at Oregon University. His season didn’t go well, however, as he finished with BA .120.
