Cuba won Caribbean Cup

The first edition of Caribbean Cup knows its winner. After a close game it’s Cuba that takes the trophy after they finished with 3 wins and 1 loss. Porto Rico (2-2) takes the second place, while Dominican Republic finished last (1-3).

But it was Dominican Republic that caused troubles to Cuba. In the end, the game finished 5-3, after Yanet Cruz threw the complete game, allowing 3 runs (1 unearned) on 5 hits. She also had 3 SO.

Individual awards were dominated by Cuban players, as DH Glenda Donet took MVP. Eliyannis Estupiñán, playing in the left field, finished the tournament with BA .571 winning the Offensive Player award. Porto Rico’s Janiliz Rivera took pitching award, after finishing with 2 wins, throwing 11.2 innings. She allowed 14 hits (11 of which came in 15-5 win against Cuba), but only allowed 5 run, while striking out 10 batters.
